Simplify Today.
We think it's safe to say that everyone wants life to be a little simpler. No one lays their head down at night and thinks, "You know, I wish today had been way more complicated and chaotic." Right? (Goodness, we hope not!!)
We know first hand how quickly a “normal day” can spin out into instant chaos between work schedules, kids, activities, household upkeep, and literally just trying to figure out what's for dinner tonight.
And then you add it all up: day after day, or week after week, of feeling like things are just swirling around with no forward motion or progress — of feeling like “Are we working towards anything as a family?” “Am I going to feel this way all the time?!” “Will my to-do list always determine my mood?!”
Sound familiar? Well, the good news is, you’re not alone. Not even a tiny bit.
hi! We’re the mousetis family. and we’ve been there.
Heck, we lived “there” most of last year, and it was so hard.
MAYBE THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR TO YOU? DO YOU…
Feel like you’re just surviving the day instead of enjoying it?
Endlessly scroll the day away while ignoring the things that would actually make you feel better? (ie: putting away that laundry, dinner around the table, cleaning out the junk drawer, exercising...)
Wish you had routine and rhythm to your days?
Cry alone in the shower wondering if it will always be this way?
(Okay, okay... too far! But seriously... we’ve totally done that.)
FRIEND, WE FEEL YOU. AND HERE’S HOW WE CHANGED IT…
We were craving rhythm and routine, but we didn't even know where to start. It wasn't until we started to simplify the expectations we were putting on ourselves, and started to look for ways to simplify what was right in front of us, day by day, that we started to feel the fog lift and our joy return.
But that all changed when we started to ask ourselves this simple question every morning…
"What single thing can I do today that will allow me to consider today a success?"
That sounds like a simple question right? It is! But it only works if you give that question the full power to reframe your thoughts and expectations on your day. And when you let it do that, it puts into perspective that you are only one person, with so many hours in a day, and you need to name and work towards what truly makes a day successful for you.
And you know what, sometimes that single success goal is as simple as “clean out the silverware drawer” or “keep the kids alive until Dad gets home.” Sure, someday’s it’s bigger than that, but honestly most days it’s not. What actually gives most of us inner peace and a simplified daily life isn’t some grand sweeping action that changes everything, but instead is forward progress on those little things that take up our thoughts and energy.
BUT LET ME TELL YOU WHAT THIS “SIMPLE” WAY OF THINKING ISN’T ABOUT…
Just checking more and more things off of your to-do list.
Organizing and simplifying your life only to fill it up again with MORE.
Putting yourself down when you don't have the day you’d hoped for.
Having life all figured out, or planned.
HERE’S WHAT IT’S REALLY ABOUT…
